Getting Around
Its proximity to the airport means that transfer times to the Monastir region are short. Local taxis are inexpensive - and a convenient way of getting around once you’re there, if you’d prefer to take the weight off your feet. There is also a tourist train that runs between Monastir and nearby Skanes, as well as metro services connecting the resort to the airport.
Wander through the Medina
Thanks to renovations and restorations, some of the old walls and gates that encompass Monastir’s traditional medina are still intact, and it’s a great place to explore if you fancy sampling some authentic Tunisian cuisine before bartering for local goods to take back home as holiday mementos
Capture the Beauty of the Ribat
You may recognise it as the backdrop for some of Monty Python’s Life of Brian, but even without this honour, it’s well worth a visit. Once used to spot hostile ships, it’s now a major tourist attraction that is very well preserved. The Great Mosque is next door too, and the Mausoleum of Habib Bourguiba is only 10mins walk away.

The fresh catch of the day is seafood, at its best. In Monastir’s marina you can order fishy delights,freshly prepared to order. The restaurants scattered around this bustling hub are top quality, and perfect for a romantic treat. Seafood isn’t the only thing on the menu either, if you fancy something different instead.
Stretch Out on the Sands
One thing that Monastir does incredibly well is beaches. If your holiday plans involve relaxing on golden sands, the beaches here would be perfect for you. Most of them have excellent facilities including cafes and restaurants, as well as plenty of watersports if you want dive into adventure withsome adrenaline-hit thrills.
