Getting Around
When staying in Ovacik your airport transfer will take around two hours. It's easy to arrange a shuttle transfer or you could book a private transfer, but that will be more expensive. Taxi fares should be agreed in advance and it may be worth bringing a map of where you’re staying. Car hire is available from Dalaman airport, too. In the resort, it’s easy to walk to the shops and restaurants of neighbouring Hisaronu, but bear in mind the terrain is hilly or hotels often lay on their own transport.
Ovacik Beaches
The beautiful town of Ovacik doesn't have its own beach but don’t worry, the beach at neighbouring Olu Deniz has been voted one of the world’s most postcard-perfect, and it's only a 10-minute drive away! Don't forget to visit its famous Blue Lagoon too, a beautiful conservation area.
Food & Drink
Ovacik may be a quiet resort but it boasts mouth-watering cuisine in lovely restaurants. Neighbouring Hisaronu is close by and far livelier so you can have the best of both worlds on your doorstep. The Olive Tree caters for tourists who want to linger over delicious Turkish food and wine in a romantic terrace setting. Bars like the Oh Yes Garden Cocktail Bar offer fun till late into the night.
Turkish Bath in Fethiye
When travelling to Turkey, you must treat yourself to a traditional Turkish bath or hammam. This bathing ritual, which involves lying on a warm marble slab, brings a whole new meaning to the term squeaky clean! Some hotels offer this service, or you can visit the Old Turkish Bath in nearby Fethiye.
Hike up Mount Babadag
Ovacik’s mountaintop location means it’s popular with keen walkers who want to tackle the 1960-metre-high paragliding launch point, Mount Babadag. Even if you’re not a natural rambler, it pays to pack more than a pair of flip flops so you can explore the stunning forest scenery in the relative cool of the mountain air.
