Getting Around
The centre of Alanya is easy to get around on foot, and that’s a great way to see the sights - but in the height of summer you may wish to give your feet a rest and enjoy an air-conditioned ride, especially if you’re heading up the hill to the castle. Dolmus minibuses and taxis are readily available and cheap. You can also hire cars, scooters and bikes if you wish.
Explore the Red Tower
Set in the heart of Alanya, the historic Red Tower – Kizil Kule – was built in the 13th century and is the town's major landmark. Inside, you'll find the Ethnographic Museum, charting much of Alanya’s heritage, but most come for the jaw-dropping views.
Take a Trip to Pamukkale
Take a day trip to Pamukkale, which translates into ‘Cotton Castle’ to see the white terraces of salt deposits and the fabulous hot springs. A bath in its warm waters is said to have curative effects, so plunge in the pools and relax. When you’re done, you could also explore the Greco-Roman ruins near the town of Denzil.
