If you prefer putting to paragliding, the Crete Golf Club is a spectacular high-altitude club ideal for both practicing your swing and professional tournaments. Natural sites such as the cave of Agia Foteini and the Gorge of Roza provide ample trekking opportunities with breathtaking sights to match, or for history lovers, there is Lychnotatis Museum and Menelaos Parlamas Museum, which give visitors a rare glimpse of pre-modern Greek history.
Avoid the crowds and hang out in the nearby villages of Koutouloufari, old Hersonissos and Piskopiano for a taste of traditional Greece, or if you want to liven things up, a 15-minute drive will take you to the buzzing resort of Malia, known for its cocktail bars, superclubs and big-name DJs. When the sun goes down, bid goodbye to the beach and head to the harbour area for a night of music, dancing and great food. Holidays to Hersonissos are one of the best way to enjoy Greece.
