With an average of 320 sunshine days a year, holidays to Playa de la Arena, a sleepy town in the west of beautiful Tenerife, are a safe bet whether you fancy a summer holiday or splash of winter sun. Relax on one of the resort's trademark black sandy beaches backed by rugged cliffs, one of the beautiful characteristics of Tenerife.
This laid-back resort is popular with families, couples and friends who want a quiet retreat on the west coast of Tenerife, with a choice of watersports on the beach, traditional villages and nearby swanky resorts such as Santa Cruz de Tenerife – a vibrant capital complete with a famous harbour, iconic landmarks and (most importantly) a fantastic shopping scene in Plaza de Espana.
The surrounding mountains and volcanic landscapes not only provide an idyllic backdrop but are a treasure trove for avid cyclists and adventure lovers – book a buggy safari, horse riding, paragliding and more on Playa de la Arena holidays. If you're a foodie, you're in for a treat with Tenerife's food and drink scene with an abundance of fresh seafood available at waterfront restaurants – and a particularly tasty menu at Café Jardin, all accompanied by the best local wines. The nightlife is easy-going in comparison to the lively bars you might find in neighbouring Playa de las Americas or Los Gigantes, but there is a good selection of bars along the promenade.
Tenerife South Airport is 30-minutes from the resort and taxis usually charge around €55 to €60 for a one-way trip for two people, so you could be touching down on your Playa de la Arena holidays in no time.
