Maspalomas dunes and La Charca lagoon
Maspalomas is breathtakingly beautiful, with wind-sculpted sand dunes standing tall against blue seas and skies. Walk down the Avenida de Tirajana arch to reach the dunes, extending across nearly four kilometres. The sand – originally crushed coral reefs – was swept up by the ocean winds to create the beautifully undulating dunes. Explore the dunes on a camel ride or a jeep safari. Just before the dunes begin and a little ahead of the palm grove of Palmeral lies La Charca, you'll find a lagoon where you can spot rare birds. Situated between the sand and the sea, the protected reserve is an idyllic spot for a stopover.
Nightlife at Playa del Ingles
Whether you choose to stay in Maspalomas or the beach village of Playa del Ingles, it’s all one long stretch of sands. While Maspalomas is quieter, Playa del Ingles promises buzzing nightlife. Walk along the Paseo Marítimo promenade to discover Irish pubs, restaurants, amusement arcades and souvenir stores. Playa del Ingles also has a watersports centre at one end. For live music, check out Alabama’s, a hot spot for music lovers, in the central shopping area.
