A long avenue of palms greets you as you arrive at Costa Calma, a serene gem on the island of Fuerteventura. A village developed into a tourist hot spot, this Canary Island beach town is ideal for a relaxed holiday experience.
If laid-back is your style, holidays to Costa Calma are sure to deliver the goods. Located in the south of Fuerteventura, this quaint resort is one of the more peaceful on the island, ideal for families, couples or solo travellers seeking all things sun, sand and sea. With its position just off the north coast of Africa, the region benefits from plenty of sunshine and a pleasant breeze, which is great for watersports and fun beach activities!
The main beach winds along the edge of a huge national park, and offers up sunloungers, a surf school and a string of beach bars to indulge in. For a spot of local culture, the Sunday Market is worth visiting with a medley of handmade crafts, goods and food to offer shoppers. Similar to most resorts in the Canary Islands, the cuisine here is mostly Mediterranean with dozens of fresh seafood restaurants and traditional tapas bars ready to try, before discovering what the evening will bring.
Costa Calma holidays are low-key in comparison to some other, wilder, resorts in the Canaries, making it an ideal choice for families. Late nights can be had in the local restaurants and bars, but there is not much of a clubbing scene in this area.
