Beach Life in Porto Colom

The Blue Flag Cala Marcal, Porto Colom’s main beach, where the sand gently slopes into the water, is perfect for family-friendly holidays in Mallorca. It’s also great for snorkeling or signing up for a scuba diving course, in addition to kayaking and paddle-boarding. You can also visit the nearby beaches of S’Arenal Grand and S’Arenal Petit which are linked by a promenade full of shops and bars. A little further away, you will also find S’Algar beach in the north and Cala Sa Nau beach in the south.

Festivals and Markets

Porto Colom is the place to go for event-seekers, with a year-round calendar packed full of festivals whether you love food and drink or rock music. Each June, Porto Colom holds the   foodie-festival Fira Gastronomica D’es Pop and plays host to the exciting TriStar Mallorca Triathlon in April, with over 600 participants. You can pick up souvenirs at the weekly artisan market in Porto Colom or from stallholders in the small town of Felanitx on Sundays, an area famous for its vineyards and fine wines.

Sightseeing in Porto Colom

If its breathtaking views you want then take a trip to the top of Puig Sant Salvador, the highest mountain in the region at Santuari de Sant Salvador, near Felanitx. This former monastery offers beautiful, panoramic views across Porto Colom. There are fascinating caves waiting to be explored along the Mallorcan coast, too, such as Ham and Drac, also popular among scuba divers. Golfers get to feast their eyes on sweeping views of the town from the stunning Vall d’Or Golf Club. If you’re in the mood for wine, take a trip to a bodega in the local wine-making region of Pla i Llevant to sample some lovely local wines.

Eating out in Porto Colom

As you'd expect of a 5-star fishing village, you'll find some amazing seafood restaurants in Porto Colom, many of them lining the quayside. Head to Sa Llotja, with its spectacular views of the marina, for authentic Mallorcan meat dishes. The Florian also serves up fresh fish delicacies and a range of international dishes. For traditional fare, drop in to Es Pamboliet for some Spanish paella. There are lots of bars too, including the laidback Fidel Club and La Costa, with its stylish terrace overlooking the sea.
