Cala Ratjada Holidays
Cala Ratjada is located on the northeastern part of the Balearic Island of Majorca. It covers both sides of the Punta de Capdepera peninsula and provides gorgeous views of the rocky coastline. It’s also close by to the neighbouring island of Menorca, making it an ideal base for day trips.
In the 17th century Cala Ratjada existed as a fishing port and has continued this tradition ever since then, with fishermen still working in the business. This of course means there are many restaurants serving up fresh fish, lobster and calamari for you to feast on during warm evenings out on your Cala Ratjada holidays.
Located in close proximity to the neighbouring isle of Menorca, and with popular resorts Sa Coma and Cala Millor nearby too, it's easy to explore more of these beautiful islands on a day trip or two. Getting Around
Fuerteventura Airport is a mere 10 minutes away from the resort and there are many transport companies available that offer door-to-door services for both smaller and larger groups. To avoid queueing it’s advisable to book any transport in advance. Ferry services and boat charter companies are available to travel to travel to any neighbouring islands.
Events in Cala Ratjada
From medieval festivals to weekly markets, holidays in Cala Ratjada have a jam-packed calendar of events happening throughout the year. The feast of the Carme takes place in July, while August hosts the feast of Saint Roch and the town puts on live music shows, street displays and a plethora of food stalls. For everyday entertainment look no further than the many restaurants and bars all serving up delicious local delicacies and great wine.
Superb Sightseeing
The Jardins Bartolomé March or Sa Torre Cega are located just above the harbour featuring an amazing a sculpture park housing works by world Henry Moore, Rodin and modern-day Catalan artists. It’s important to book this prior to travelling, but it’s a sight worth seeing. A hike to Punta de Capdepera’s 19th-century lighthouse offers views of Menorca on a clear day and is perfect for the more active traveller. There are also cycling trips, bird watching excursions and boat trips to Menorca available to book.
Fantastic Food & Drink
As Cala Ratjada is a fishing town, the seafood eateries are out of this world - but there’s more to find on the food front aside from fish. Many restaurants serving international cuisine can be found dotted around the resort, as well as a Michelin Star restaurant. Explore the cobbled streets in search of your favourite tapas bar, snack food shop and cocktail bar. Calamari is a must and you can’t go wrong with a chilled sangria in the evening.
Beach Life
The beaches in Cala Ratjada boast golden sand that’s fine to the touch and the water is clear and a beautiful shade of turquoise. Diving, water skiing and windsurfing are all on offer for those water fanatics out there. The main beach is 150m long with a smaller beach called Cala Gat nearby. Cala Agulla and Cala Mesquida are also nearby meaning there’s a plethora of sandy beaches to choose from to spend your days sunbathing and relaxing.
