Set on the east coast of Mallorca, holidays in Cala D’Or whisk you to the sophisticated side of the island. With Blue Flag beaches, fun nightlife, fabulous coves and pretty towns, beach-lovers and party seekers will fall in love with the region. Cala D’Or holidays are a world away from the neon lights of Magaluf and lively Palma Nova, meaning the vibe is more calm and relaxed here. Head out on a boat trip to nearby coves and beaches, or admire the pretty marina from the waterfront restaurants. For a change of pace, take a day trip to Palma, which is less than an hour away by car, where you'll find tapas at its best in the picturesque old town, classy boutiques and a stunning beachfront.
Secluded Cala D’Or Coves and Beaches
Cala D’Or boasts a total of seven gorgeous coves just waiting to be explored and each with their own charm and character. Soft white sand and crystal clear waters on the beaches of Cala d’Or are perfect for paddling and ideal for young children. There’s no better way to reach them than by water taxi, take a trip across the calm Mediterranean waters to explore the small bays of Cala Serena, Cala Esmeralda, Cala Gran, and Cala Ferrera.
Watersports in Cala D’Or
There’s a lot more to Cala d’Or than soaking up your Vitamin D quota on the golden beaches. Thanks to the crystal clear, warm waters, the area has become a hotspot for divers, swimmers and paddle boarders. You could always give sailing a try, too. But, no trip is complete without a visit to the Cala d’Or Marina where you can explore the colourful marine life through a glass-bottomed boat trip. Or enjoy the picturesque coastline from the water by hiring a yacht or a sailboat.
Wine and Dine at Cala D’Or
Take your pick from chic restaurants in the centre of Cala d’Or. From traditional tapas to something a little more adventurous, there’s plenty to please everyone’s taste and appetite. Since fishing is popular in Cala D’Or, try the fresh catch of the day - and the local paella is a must. Treat yourself to cocktails at one of the waterfront bars, a Majorcan wine, or both! For a fine dining experience, there’s a great choice of upmarket restaurants by the marina, with a high standard of service and a la carte menus.
Day trips to Palma
An hour's drive from Cala D’Or is the island’s cool capital, Palma de Mallorca. This stylish city makes a great excursion, a mix of culture and attractions, exotic beaches and bustling nightlife. Palma has some of Spain's best museums, shops and nightlife. It's also a stone's throw from great beaches and a huge marina where you can take boat trips around the island. Retail addicts should head for Jaume III – Palma’s version of Bond Street – and home to designer outlets, whilst food lovers can head to the city marina to explore the city’s diverse restaurant scene.
